Local authors have written two books on Browns Valley history. Mining in Yuba County by Kathy Smith is an in-depth study of the mining community that began in 1850. Many of the burials in Browns Valley cemetery contain the men that worked in the mines during that time. Browns Valley by Roberta D'Arcy shows the rich history of the community during it's developmental period. Both books are available on Amazon.
